Should I contact other dealerships to get approved for a car lease? Should I contact other dealerships to get approved for a car lease? around a month and half ago I went to my local vw hamilton dealership and I worked out a deal to lease the new 2011 vw jetta at $285 a month (comfortline with fog lights/heated seats/ and connectivity package) with $2700 Down (includes my first month and security deposit and the rest around $2000 as a down payment), I also added a cosigner (my older brother). Anyways after a month and half after applying the moron who is in charge of getting me approved calls and says I need a stronger co-signer or I need $7000 down. First off I hate this dealership, Hamilton, ONT vw treats me like crap, I call every single day and no one ever calls me back. I have to go in to the dealership to speak to dominic who is getting me approved, he tells me that he will call me for sure on monday but on wednesday I have to call and he still wont call me back, then I have to go in and speak person to person. im soo fed up with these guys. Anyways i have a good credit score and I have a $250,000 mortgage under my name and I have never missed any payments of any kind so Im good on that front. I got approved for my mortgage from the bank just 7 months ago. I don t understand why I cant get approved for a $25,000 car. DO you guys think im better off going to other vw dealerships and telling them the whole story and see what they can do for me or are all vw dealerships going to give me the same answer? or Are pretty much all other car dealers going to say no to me? car insurance. I just tried to Jump-Start my car but it still won't start... Help please? I have a 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse which died about 2 days ago. Last week it was starting up but 2 days ago I tried to start it and the engine cranks a little bit, then dies down. I tried to Jump-start it today with my 07 Nissan Altima and I turned on the Altima reved it a bit and let it charge for a few minutes but the Eclipse still wont start up. The battery on the Eclipse is very old, so im praying that that's the cause and not something worst like the alternator because I seriously have no more money to spend on that car. Do you think that since the battery is pretty old (from 2006) that could be the cause? The battery is not rusted or anything, and the electronics do work (the radio, headlights, A/C, etc.) Here's a clip of me trying to start it (before trying to jump starting it): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lwUfJNl5Wko Help, thanks! car insurance. Audi . How to Reset For Fault in ABS on a Chrysler Town & CountryThe Chrysler Town and Country uses a diagnostics system known as OBD-II. If the system triggers an "ABS" fault light, a problem exists with the van's anti-lock braking system. After you've fixed the problem, the light may not immediately go off. You'll need to reset the computer, or drive the vehicle for a while, to turn the light off. You can reset the "ABS" fault light by using a diagnostic scan tool, or by unhooking the van's battery. Difficulty:Moderately Easy Instructions Things You'll Need Automotive scan tool Pliers or wrench (optional) Step by Step : 1 Turn the Town and Country's engine off, but leave the key in the "On" position. In this position, the cluster lights should be on. 2 Plug your diagnostic scan tool into the scan port beneath the steering column. After a few seconds, you'll see a notice on the tool's display screen that lets you know it is connected to the Town and Country's computer. 3 Push the "Reset" or "Clear" button on your scan tool. Wait for the display screen to show a confirmation, and then unplug it from the port. Turn the key off and remove it, and then reinsert it. Make sure the "ABS" fault light is turned off. 4 Turn off the Town and Country's engine and open the hood if you don't have a diagnostic scan tool. Lift the cover from the van's battery. Turn the nut on the black (negative) battery cable with pliers or a wrench to loosen it. Grasp the base of the cable and pull it away from the battery to unhook it. Wait 10 minutes, and then reconnect the battery. This resets the computer system, including the "ABS" fault code.
Audi . Troubleshooting Help on 97 Honda Civic Lx TransmissionWhen your 1997 Honda Civic has trouble shifting or staying in gear, you may think you're in for some costly repairs. The gears inside of a transmission are difficult to deal with and time consuming to reach. There are, however, a variety of smaller and less costly problems that can appear to be a faulty transmission. Troubleshoot all the components of the transmission in your 1997 Honda Civic before taking it to a mechanic for a costly repair. Difficulty:Moderate Instructions Things You'll Need Shop rag Socket wrench set Step by Step : 1 Prop open the hood and check the level of transmission fluid in the transmission. Pull the dipstick with the red handle out of the engine block, wipe the stick clean of fluid with a shop rag, insert it back into the engine fully and pull it back out to read the level of fluid on the scored marks of the stick. The transmission uses the fluid for lubrication and hydraulic power; fill the transmission with fluid if it is low. 2 Run a diagnostic on the vehicle's electronic control module, or ECM. The ECM is a flat-panel computer inside the engine block just in front of the battery that electronically controls the operation of the engine and transmission. A faulty ECM can make your vehicle appear to have a transmission problem. Remove the ECM with a 10 mm socket and take the computer to a professional for a diagnostic. 3 Ensure that the ECM is getting the proper information from the transmission's electronic speed sensor. The speed sensor is a small electronic plug that can be removed with a 10 mm socket. It sits on top of the transaxle and is responsible for feeding the ECM electronic information about the operation of the transmission. A faulty speed sensor will relay faulty information which will lead to poor transmission performance. 4 Use your nose to check for slipping gears. If the gears inside the transmission are failing or wearing down, then the transmission should give off a burning smell after the gears slip out during operation of the vehicle. This creates an enormous amount of heat, which causes the smell. *The number of gear wheels in the transmission depends on the number of forward speeds the vehicle has. An additional gear reverses the direction of power so that your car can move backward. This Reverse gear works in conjunction with the lowest gear. Because you must bring a vehicle to a stop before you back up and because you rarely want to hit high speeds in Reverse, the Low gear provides the power to overcome inertia and get the car moving again in the "wrong" direction. That's why your car usually moves backward fairly slowly but with a good deal of power. How a manual transmission u/orks Generally speaking, the faster your engine runs, the more power it puts out. If you need extra power to get your car up a hill — or to overcome inertia and just get that heavy monster moving in the first place — your engine must run faster than it runs simply to maintain speed after your vehicle is on the road. Low gears supply that power by making your wheels turn at a slower rate than your engine does. 174 Part II: What Makes It Go? If the large gear has 30 teeth and the small gear has 10, the large gear turns once to every three turns of the small gear. In other words, the large gear turns only a third of the way around for every complete revolution of the small gear. The gears in your transmission work on this principle, which is called a 3:1 gear ratio. As you can see back in Figures 9-1 and 9-4, the turning drive train brings a gear into contact with other gears of different sizes. That's why the transmission input shaft that runs between the engine and the transmission turns at the same rate of speed as the engine, but the Chapter 9: Take the Drive Train: Understanding Transmissions... 1 7C transmission output shaft that leaves the transmission and carries the power via the driveshaft and differential to the rear wheels turns at a different rate, depending on which gears in the transmission are engaged. (If you're feeling mind-boggled, reread Steps 5 through 10 in "How the power flows through the drive train" earlier in this chapter.) * around. Now take a closer look at what goes on when you shift into each gear. In Low gear, the gears in the transmission make the driveshaft (and therefore the wheels) turn more slowly than the engine. In fact, the driveshaft may turn only once for every, four engine revolutions. All the power of the swiftly running engine is channeled into those few turns. The wheels turn more slowly, but they have more power to put into each turn, so your car can start, climb a hill, or pull a trailer. Not only does the engine run faster, but you also have the mechanical advantage of the big gear providing more leverage by turning slowly but with more force. In Second gear, the engine turns more slowly than it did in Low, putting out less power but more speed because the wheels can turn more quickly. In this gear, the driveshaft may turn once for every two engine revolutions, or twice as fast as in Low gear. In High gear, the gear ratio can drop to around 1:1, which means that the engine and the driveshaft turn at relatively the same rate of speed. The wheels can go very fast; yet the engine doesn't put out additional power to produce that speed. Because you've overcome inertia by the time you shift into high gear and generally have nothing more to contend with than wind Audi . Can you make a stick shifted in to a automatic for cars?
* resistance and the surface of the highway, you don't need much power to keep moving at a good clip after you get there. 176 Part II: What Makes It Go? In Fifth gear, the ratio is usually an overdrive of around 0.75:1, which means that the engine can turn more slowly than the output shaft's speed. You want to be at that ratio on the highway for good fuel economy. However, you do need to downshift if you want to pass someone, because you don't have much engine power with this ratio. Automatic Transmissions Did you know that today's automatic transmissions are computer-controlled hydraulic systems? Previous automatic transmissions were mechanically controlled. This section covers the basic features of both. An automatic transmission works on the same basis as a manual transmis sion does, with a gear selector on the steering column or floor to allow you to tell the car to park, idle, go in reverse, go forward at varying speeds, or Audi . But instead of a manual clutch, an automatic transmission uses a torque converter and hydraulic pressure to change gears automatically. The torque converter replaces the standard transmission's clutch. The torque converter is a fluid coupling that transfers power from the engine to the transmission input shaft. It allows for smooth transfer of power and at highway speeds can be locked up to reduce slippage and improve fuel economy. Shifting in an automatic transmission is controlled by either a hydraulic system or an electronic system. Hydraulically controlled transmissions con sist of an intricate network of valves and other components along with hydraulic pressure to control the operation of planetary gearsets (see Figure 9-6). These gearsets can be fashioned to generate three, four, or five forward speeds. Audi . How do you adjust transmission brake bands on 95 cabrio?
